BEAT.IT illustrates the song writing talent of The Link Quartet from the lush and gentle “Little Italy Serenade” (with flautist Mauro Sbuttoni) to the explosive Hammond originals “Strudel Girl” and the sexed up “An Evening with Linda Lovelace” that puts them in the class of genre leaders The James Taylor Quartet, Soulive, and Medeski, Martin and Wood.
BEAT.IT also features daring and fresh interpretations of challenging covers by the likes of Jimi Hendrix, Georgie Fame, The Small Faces and Sonny Phillips that will appeal to fans of the original artists and fans of the genre that The Link Quartet help to define. BEAT.IT’s one, but perfectly matched vocal track, is an inspired adaptation of UK legend Nolan Porter’s “If I Could Only Be Sure” .
Renzo Bassi (bass), Giulio Cardini (guitar), and Tony Bacciocchi (drums) are founding members of THE LINK QUARTET, which began in 1991. They have led, performed with, or produced dozens of bands for 20+ years, giving BEAT.IT a variety of influences from rock-a-billy to punk. These guys have experience and talent in spades. THE LINK QUARTET’s sound is fueled by the ‘gifted beyond his years’ Paolo Negri (Hammond B-3), with the generosity only a perfectly balanced band can achieve. Paolo is one of the meanest Hammond players on the scene…anywhere…period.
